Those of you who know me in real life (or online) are probably snorting right now. You think? you smirk, with a mixture of amusement and derision. Really now? Okay, fine. Maybe that needs rephrasing.
I probably am a bit of a social media addict. Yes, 'a bit'. Don't push it.
Evidence #1: Here is a photo of me on Tumblr at Trishi's place.

Just for fun, I decided to list down the social media sites I frequent. They are:
But that isn't all. Like many of my peers, I am on Skype, though I hardly go on. I got a new phone, and it's an Android, so I've jumped onto the Instagram bandwagon; also, Whatsapp is obviously a smartphone staple. I have an account with Zynga With Friends so I can play Words With Friends and Scramble With Friends, the latter being a new addiction of sorts. Also, I have a Last.fm account as well as a Neopets one (Snowmuncher ftw). Oh man, I just remembered about my Livejournal account too. Eek.
As far as email goes, I have two Hotmail accounts and two Gmail accounts. There is a reason for all of them, but I really don't think anyone would be interested in reading the story behind the creation of each account, and I don't feel like going into that much detail, in any case. Rest assured, however, that there was a good reason...or rather, four good reasons.
Evidence #2: Here is a highly attractive photo of me on Twitter while out with friends.

I don't know, man. I alternate between 'This is normal, you're a teenage girl' and 'Holy carp, are you insane, why do you have so many accounts'. Most of the time, it's the former, though; I mean, it's not like I'm drowning in them or anything. Okay, it happens occasionally, but that's when I just shut everything out, ignore everybody, and go watch One Direction videos on YouTube (whatever makes me happy, right?!).
The thing is, I can go without the Internet, I know I can. I did it for the cult trip to Sekeping Serendah, and it was fine. I don't need these things -- they just make life a lot easier/more interesting, is all. They're a...a hobby, if you can call them that. A hobby I really, really enjoy, but wouldn't, y'know, die without. I mean, a little bit, maybe. On the inside. But I'd live.
Sekeping Serendah was fun. Cult love!

That said, I'll freely admit to being a bit of a social media addict -- there's no point denying it. I mean, I don't go a day without going online if I can help it. I'm on Twitter a lot. I love YouTube to bits. Tumblr is constantly trying to steal my soul with its endless scrolling feature. Things like that. But I don't think I'd ever let it control me or anything scary like that. This addiction is a mild one, at best, and it's not going to harm me in any way.
Then again, maybe this is me trapped in a miles-deep pit of denial.
