(From GBM News.)
It's Perez Hilton, but read.
This has been going on for ages, and only now are we sitting up and taking notice. It is such a crime to be gay, and that's so wrong; that's really screwed-up. What the hell does someone's sexuality matter to you? Why should you hate them and condemn them and call them names? Why should you judge them? And why in heaven's name do you feel you should punish them?!
The worst kind of suicide is one that was instigated by others. Because you know later that maybe if those stupid morons had kept their mouths shut, maybe that person wouldn't have taken their life. Maybe they would be still around, hating their life but living it nonetheless, waiting and praying for change to come; and change will come, for change is inevitable.
(From The Rubicon.)
Those guys who killed themselves, they range from ages thirteen to eighteen. They were so young, and most importantly, they had a future. If only they had held on for a few more years, till they were out of school, till they were in a better place. If only they had held on to the future, with its promise of change and hope. If only.
"If only, if only," the woodpecker sighs,
"The bark on the tree was as soft as the skies."
-- Holes by Louis Sachar
Celebrities have spoken out about this. Lovely people. Ellen DeGeneres' video is terribly poignant.
Joel Madden of Good Charlotte
All this anti-gay stuff has got to stop.
To the haters: Get your heads out of your asses and look around -- the gays, lesbians, and transsexuals aren't gun-wielding maniacs; the ones who are wielding guns are pointing them at themselves. They didn't ask to be born this way, just like you didn't ask to be straight or close-minded or stupid. Stop harrassing them. Leave them alone. Their sexuality is none of your business, and it really shouldn't matter to you.
I'm looking through the NOH8 photos right now (somewhat related) and feeling better about the world. It's good to know that there are people like that out there. I wonder what Adam Bouska has to say about all this.
