Music videos

Because I am a forgetful prat, it was only after I read Sharona's post that I remembered she and I agreed to come up with a short list of our favourite music videos. Go have a look at hers! It sent me on a bit of a YouTube spree; it'd been a while since I watched music vids of any sort. And now I want to download some A-ha.

After a while of thinking, I decided that I don't actually really have favourite music vids. I mean, there are ones that I like, yeah, but some I remember for different reasons. Therefore, I have split my choice of six music vids into two -- three that I like and three that freak me out.

1. Selfish Jean by Travis
It won't let me embed, so you have to follow the link. Seriously, go watch it! It is the cutest video I have ever seen -- it even trumps OK GO's Here It Goes Again vid, the one with the treadmills. 'AAAAAAHHH Selfish Jean'. Hee Hee.

2. The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars

While it is known that it is a ripoff of the horror movie The Shining, I love it nonetheless. What I really like is the doppelganger idea, especially since it really fits the lyrics of the bridge: I tried to be someone else, but nothing seemed to change | I know now this is who I really am. And then there's fighting with yourself in the literal sense (I was rooting for non-tuxedo Jared), which is interesting.

3. Savin' Me by Nickelback
Again, I am unable to embed this, so you'll have to follow the link, please. I love the concept so much. It was only at the part with the ambulance that I understood it, and my heart just stopped. Gosh. The pregnant lady was cool too. Show me what it's like to be the last one standing.

1. Viva Forever by The Spice Girls

Look, I know it's supposed to be all magical and wonderful and kiddy and all, but I watched it at a cafe when I was really small and ended up super freaked out. The fairies basically kidnapped the boy, stuffed him into a Rubix cube, and shrunk him. He was never seen or heard of again after that, and his friend was all alone in the weird capsule ball-filled world. IT IS FREAKY.

2. Supermassive Black Hole - Muse

The first time I watched this, I was alone at home at night with no lights on in the house. This music vid came on TV, with its colourful, writhing,  faceless figures, and Pugsy started barking like crazy. EXCUSE ME FOR HAVING FELT A WEE BIT UNCOMFORTABLE. Also, me with my wonderful imagination, I think that the masks the band is wearing look like they peeled the faces off corpses. Yeah. Have a good night's sleep tonight, everyone.

3. Crystal Ball by Keane
Can't embed. This one is so sad. Again, it's all about the concept. Imagine it happening to you. Where would you go? What would you do? What could you do? I felt so darn sorry for the original man, fictitious though he was. Sigh.

So that's my selection of music vids. It feels like I'm forgetting some, but oh well. Again, go see Sharona's music vid selection, because it is awesome. Let me know what you thought of mine, and share yours as well!

Because, you know, sharing is caring and all that.

  1. OH. MY. GOD. Your top three I all love as well! How awesome is it to have two Jareds at the same time? xD

    Love it <3
(And thanks for the recc (: )

  2. I KNOW, RIGHT? One is awesome enough. Two is just... :yah

No problem. I've been meaning to ask you! Would you like me to link you? Like, in my sidebar. :D
